nice short game, really like the ftl upgrade/healing system, really rewards avoiding damage.

Extar responds:

Glad you appreciated the upgrade system. It's the main gimmick of the game that stops it from being a completely derivative shmup. :)

the concept and sound design is absolutely great but the lack of instruction makes playing for the first time absolutely abysmal, sure it's as easy as space to interact but interact how?

being thrown into a game with no context and instant death can be annoying enough as is so the added imparement genuinly makes it hard to understand the actual goal of the game, am i meant to get a specific item to unlock the exit? meant to get a weapon to kill them? maybe it's multiple and i dunno how to decipher between which path i'm set to go on.

GabeMalk responds:

Part of the game's challenge is to figure out what you're doing and what is happening just from the sounds. And I know this may be frustrating for some people, but it's a design choice, some people will like it, some won't. We didn't want to explain too much, it's quite simple actually, but you have to pay attention.

And yes, the game has multiple routes, and they are all somewhat "linear", in the sense that ou don't need a specific item or to backtrack, you just need to make the right decisions (i.e. press space at the right times). The goal is to survive.

short but sweet, has a neat gimmick and it plays off of it to its fullest potential.

final puzzle was particularly great, feels like the game was training for it which is honestly refreshing, figuring out the mechanics doesn't solve the puzzle while most combat games that is the puzzle.

BigBossErndog responds:

Thank you, this game was good practice designing level for me so it means a lot for you to acknowledge that :D

fairly interesting game.

the music and graphics mesh well and fit with the gameplay, and i like how you control using your gunshots, though the inverse shots is quite hard to get used to which isn't a problem but since the game is single hit based it doesn't leave much of an oportunity to get used to the mechanics before dying.

also while writing this review i've noticed that the loop is quite repetitive, only having one higher intensity part before cutting off, during the gameplay it's fine since you're focusing on movement and attacking though on its own it can get grating after a while.

MonoFlauta responds:

Thank you for the review! This game was made in less than 48hs so probably that's why isn't as poolished as we would like to. Anyway, about the music, if you where in the dead screen, it is shorter than the menu one or the two gameplay ones (so yes, it is very repetitive, sorry for that!).
Thanks again for the review and for playing it!

i'd rate 4 if it were finished but hey, that's the point of greenlight promotion, to gain money to finish the game.

i'd say the momentum is a bit heavy though that could just be my extremely slow computer, i'll have to check on the replacement PC when i get one. though the mapping is quite good, certainly has good spacing between the keys, though WASD is more natural for movement.

overall i'd just like to see the game finished because the skeleton is there, it just needs the meat of content and different level aesthetics.

squidly responds:

Wait, did you essentially just say you'll rate it lower because the game is clearly labelled as unfinished and it's unfinished?

very solid level customiser, i will say that timed level up only works when the time limit is on and the time bonus from levelling up at least doesn't work on timed level up.

good thing the level time cap is half an hour or this could of been a problem.

i think the best thing is the custom blocks and clear sizes, THAT is the amazing part, we've seen stage size changes, look customisation, and especially score changes before so it's refreshing to get a truly customisable experience which makes tetris feel, different.

mr-johnson22 responds:

Whoops, sorry about those time bugs! I'm surprised I never noticed them...
I'm glad you enjoyed the customizer! I tried your mode and it was pretty fun. I set out to let the customizer allow for modes that feel like a completely different game, and every now and then, somebody uploads one. :)

the game has potential but the physics don't work.

just standing next to a wall prevents jumping and walking in the direction of one you're walking next to prevents you from falling.

jumping itself isn't explained, when you move you hardly jump but holding down jump can make you do a higher jump, good mechanics which you have to play around with to discover and the moving jump causes people to fall in pits the first time.

though with all that it's functional, a bit more instruction and changing wall collision will make this game way better, i don't know stencil so i can't help.

i enjoy the art and music btw.

berdthenerdy responds:

The moving jumps were on purpose , so the player had to decide which jump is useful. But I understand what you are saying and I might make A 'Doop 2' with more levels, a narrative and better physics.

-Thanks

great game, just like the first one but with a few extra mechanics like the saving lady's.

BTW don't let anita sarkesian see this or she will flip her shit and blow it out of preportion.

NoRabbit responds:

...and all the people who likes it :)
it's funny, you're not the first one to tell me that. I had never heard of her before.
Well I guess I would be interested to hear what she has to say, if anything, about that game. That would probably make this game a bit more popular... :)
Thanks for the review !

great game, very chalanging.

NoRabbit responds:

thanks a lot !

good game, if only it was longer

TechnoWolf99 responds:

Thanks! I really wish I'd had enough time to make it longer. :P
